AMEN appreciates all in the community that provided food assistance for the month of September. This would include all that provided monetary donations, food drives and the AMEN Gardens.

The Fayette County Czech Heritage Society met for its annual Speaker meeting on Sept. 21, at TCHCC in La Grange. The business agenda included signatures from the Treasurer, a discussion of increasing State CHS dues for 2026, and fundraising suggestions. Dues will increase beginning on January 1, 2026.

At the Colorado Valley Quilt Guild’s September meeting, the Guild had a tied vote on two deserving women who have given themselves to the Guild “above and beyond” the call of duty. Jo Anne Hill is the Recipient of one of these Awards.

La Grange Mayor Jan Dockery signed a proclamation last week designating Oct. 19 as Catholic Daughters of the Americas Day in La Grange.

The La Grange Noon Lions Club took a unique turn at their recent meeting, shifting the spotlight inward to hear the life stories of their very own members. Typically, the club welcomes outside guest speakers, but this week, Lions shared personal journeys that left the audience inspired and proud to be part of such a diverse and accomplished group.

The Live Oak Art Center (LOAC) of Columbus presents Through the Eyes of an Artist, celebrating the work of Diane Mueller, photographer extraordinaire. A reception and celebration of her work is scheduled for Friday, October 10, 6-8 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Sparklight, a leading highspeed internet provider, is once again inviting local nonprofits to apply for its Charitable Giving Fund. Beginning Oct. 1, 501(c)(3) organizations across the 24 states served by Sparklight can submit applications for fall 2025 grants through Oct. 31.
