Snowden Family Artifacts to be on Display In LG as Part of Hebert’s Talk on New Books
Local author and historian Charles Hebert is pleased to announce the publication and release of the fifth and sixth of his growing collection of literary works. The two-volume epic, totally factual and completely documented, begins with the founding of the City of Memphis, Tennessee, transcends four generations, and finally reaches its natural end in Houston, Texas.
Farmers Market this Saturday in Winchester
Following the success of the first Farmer’s Market in Winchester the second one will be held Saturday, June 3 beginning at 8:30 a.m. The Market will be held between Zilss Hall and the United Methodist Church in Winchester. Vendors will be selling crafts, homemade food items, plants, eggs, and locally grown produce until noon. Fayette Co. Students Recognized In Conservation Awards Program
Brynlee Berger of Schulenburg is being recognized for her participation in the Texas Conservation Awards Program sponsored by the Fayette Soil & Water Conservation District No. 341, Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board and the Association of Texas Soil and Water Conservation Districts. Brynlee placed third in the Poster Contest (3rd-6th grade) category.
Shorthorn Golfers Finish 8th at State
The Shorthorn Golf Team finished 8th overall out of the 12 teams in the 2A UIL State Golf Tournament played at Lions Course in Austin on Monday and Tuesday. “The UIL Golf Director AJ Martinez, stated at the tournament awards ceremony that there were over 1,200 AA Golfers in the state of Texas that started the season and only 12 teams - 60 kids made it to the state tournament,” said Schulenburg golf coach Richard Hoogendoorn.
