Beettner Family Recognized For 100 Year Working Family Farm

On Oct. 18, 2023, a local family was recognized as a part of the Texas Family Land Heritage Program.

Pictured here are Charles and Sandra Beettner, their sons, Charles Beettner, Jr. and Steven Beettner and seventh generation owner Therren Beettner, son of Charles Beettner, Jr. They were recognized recently as a part of the Texas Family Land Heritage Program for having a working family farm for 100 years or more.

The Fayette County 4-H Junior Team won Grand Champion Junior Livestock Judging Team in Brazoria County. Team members consisted of Joe Carrales, Hayleigh Pizzitola, Tate Fritsch, and Hudson Holub. Individually, Joe was the high point junior, Hayleigh was 2nd high point, Tate was 3rd high point, and Hudson was 5th high point. Judging as an individual was Abbigale Eichler.

AMEN Sees Increase In Donations

AMEN Food Pantry served 362 families for the month of October for a total of 1,077 individuals. This compares to last October which was 249 families served. A total of 138 volunteers for 410 hours served the pantry. A total of 5,263 pounds of food was received as donations. The Central Texas has increased their product line and the pantry received 11,506 pounds of product.

The board of AMEN appreciates all in the community that have responded with increased food and monetary donations.

Faith Lutheran High School Accepting Orders for Annual Pie Sale

Faith Lutheran High School will have their annual pie sale on Sunday, Nov. 19. All pies are a generous 10” size and are deep-dish. Pecan pies are $30 each and Pumpkin pies are $25 each. Pick up will be at Holy Cross, St. Paul Serbin, Immanuel in Giddings and Mt. Calvary in La Grange. Place your pie order by calling Faith at (979) 242-2889. Deadline to order is Nov. 13.
