The third annual “You Matter” Beard and Mustache Competition was held Jan. 20 at the La Grange Casino Hall. $17,500 was raised during the event for The Wellness Council of the Greater Colorado Valley. Hannah Allen, above holding the belt buckle, was named Best in Show at the competition for her creative use of an old pair of jeans-turned-beard. There were 14 different categories at the competition with contestants from all over the U.S. Pictured left with his beard going in all different directions is Jason Schafer of Minnesota.

St. Paul Lutheran PTLS Chili Supper, auction and 3rd Annual Chili Cook Off will be held at the Serbin Picnic Grounds on Sunday, March 3. Cook-off judging and silent auction will be from 4:30-5:30 p.m.The live auction starts at 5:30 p.m. The chili and hot dog supper is from 5-7 p.m. There will also be a bake sale from 5 p.m. until sold out. Meal tickets are $7. The Chili Cookoff will have cash prizes and all proceeds for this event benefit future projects and improvements for St. Paul Lutheran School and Early Childhood Center.

A Gumbo Cookoff is set to take place at The Stone Cellar Saturday, Feb. 24 beginning at 12 p.m. Cookers will compete in two categories: Traditional Gumbo and Specialty Gumbo. Winners will receive cash prizes. Following the cookoff, Brown Sugar will take the stage in the Dancehall. On Sunday, Henry Williams will be playing music from 5-8 p.m.

Food Drive
