Tales of Texas Heroes: Sheriff Jim Flournoy

The Texas Heroes Museum honors Texas veterans from the Texas Revolution to present. We also honor other Texans who serve and sacrifice for the community, including law enforcement, firefighters, first responders, and paramedics. We have recreated a “sheriff’s office” in the same room that was used by the first five sheriffs in the Old Jail.

Situational Awareness Class Draws Large Crowd in Ellinger

E There was a free situational awareness class led by instructor Officer Tammy Jo McCleney this past Sunday. The class was held at the chamber hall and was sponsored by City of Ellinger, Ellinger Volunteer Fire Department, and the Ellinger Chamber of Commerce.

Live Dueling Piano Show May 27 in Round Top

Herb Society of America Meets In Brenham

In April, the Pioneer Unit of the Herb Society of America met at the Brenham Presbyterian Church for a presentation by the Pioneer Unit Culinary Group, led by Belinda Weatherly, on the results of their year-long study of Herbs of the Mediterranean.

The month of May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and as such Sheriff Keith Korenek is pleased to report that on April 20-22 a number of deputies and local police department officers were able to attend the Texas Crisis Intervention Team Association conference in Sugarland.

Three from LG Graduate from Blinn Nursing Program

Fifty-nine future nursing professionals recently were recognized with their nursing pins after completing the Blinn College District’s highly regarded Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Program. Carmine Hall to Hold Monthly Drawing Fundraiser Beginning in September

C The Cedar Creek Schuetzen Verein, also known as the Carmine Hall, will be conducting a monthly gun and gift card drawing on the third Tuesday of each month from September 2023 through August 2024. Three tickets will be drawn each month-2 for guns and 1 for a $500 gift card.

Couple Celebrates Anniversary in Ireland

Ron and Pam Knotts celebrated their anniversary in style. They recently returned from a two week tour of Ireland to celebrate their 42nd wedding anniversary, that is a great accomplishment today. This is a trip they had been planning for a long time and finally got the chance to take it.
