Abby Welker, a 10th grader at La Grange High School, admired a spangly wedding dress at Second Chance Emporium. The nonprofit secondhand everything store in La Grange has a trove of wedding dresses in stock – for either this June or sometime in the far-off future.
Saturday, Abby Welker was just looking.
Inside the front door of Second Chance Emporium, the non-profit secondhand store in La Grange, hung nearly 40 wedding dresses for sale. Abby, a La Grange High School sophomore, is not in the market for a wedding dress, but one of the white, glistening confections caught her eye.
“It was gorgeous,” Welker said, “I like all the little sparkles.”
