Lehmann Family Marks Flag Day with Historic Journey Through Pearl Harbor

On Flag Day in Hawaii, twins Caleb and Johann Lehmann had the opportunity to celebrate their love of country while visiting two of the most historic sites in the Pacific— the USS Bowfin submarine and the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor.

For a family that has always cherished the sea, American history, and the proud traditions of the United States military, the visit was especially meaningful. Standing above the resting place of the USS Arizona, the twins paused to honor the 1,177 sailors and Marines who lost their lives during the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 on the Arizona. Among those who perished were 86 Texans, a reminder that the sacrifice made that day touched communities and families across the Lone Star State and the entire nation.

The USS Bowfin, known as the “Pearl Harbor Avenger,” offered Caleb and Johann a glimpse into the courage, skill, and determination of the submariners who helped carry the fight across the Pacific following the attack. Walking through the submarine brought history to life and deepened their appreciation for the men and women who have served in defense of our freedoms.

Flag Day served as a fitting backdrop for the visit, reminding the twins that the American flag represents not only our nation’s ideals, but also the sacrifices of generations of servicemen and women who answered the call of duty. As they reflected on the events of Pearl Harbor, Caleb and Johann gained a greater understanding of the cost of freedom and the importance of remembering those who gave everything in service to their country.

The day was a memorable combination of family, history, patriotism, and respect— an experience that will stay with the Lehmann family for years to come. As the Stars and Stripes waved over Pearl Harbor, Caleb and Johann proudly honored the legacy of the Greatest Generation and all who have served the United States of America.
