Cejkas

Married at St. Michael Catholic Church in Weimar, on Jan. 15, 1972, Jimmy and Anna (Melnar) Cejka were meant to spend the rest of their lives together, passing into heaven a month apart.

Jimmy Anton Cejka was the only child of Anton Telford and Annie Mary (Cernoch) Cejka.

He was born Nov. 30, 1949 in Columbus and passed Aug. 24, 2020 at the age of 70.

Anna Maria Melnar Cejka was the eldest of five children born to Oscar Robert and Dorothy Charlene (Miska) Melnar.

She was born on July 20, 1950 in Weimar and passed on July 25, 2020 at the age of 70.

Both Anna and Jimmy passed away due to COVID-19.

Anna and Jimmy grew up in Weimar and attended St. Michael Catholic School and Weimar Public Schools.

After graduation, they began working and living in Houston and it was then that Anna and Jimmy started to date.

Once they were married, they remained in Houston for a few years and then settled in Pearland to raise their family.

They were involved parents, always at the ballpark with their children’s events and later their grandchildren’s events.

At the barbecue cook-offs you could find them with the D.C. Cookers, offering great food and a cold beer.

They were preceded in death by their parents and a grandchild, Cheech Rivas.

They are survived by their children, Matthew and wife Carolyn Wanzong, Erin and Lauren; grandchildren, Zachery Cejka, Sophia Pena, Alyssa Pena, Logen Rivas, Christian Black; and step-grandchildren, Ryan and Tori Wanzong; and only surviving aunt, Evelyn Burgess of La Grange.

Anna leaves behind her siblings, Michael Melnar and wife Marilyn, Rita and husband Gary Noska, David Melnar and wife Linda, and Mark Melnar and wife Patsy.

Jimmy and Anna chose to be cremated at the time of their death.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Feb. 28, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Weimar, at 2 p.m.

Afterward, family and friends will gather at the St. Michael Family Center for refreshments and fellowship.
