Weber Talks About Filling Pct. 4 Commissioner Spot

Last week Pct. 4 Commissioner Tom Muras announced he would retire at the end of this year. Muras’ term ends in 2022. According to state law, County Judge Joe Weber will have to appoint someone to fill the position until the next general election in 2022.

Weber told the Record last Thursday that he would consult with the other commissioners before making his decision. However, the decision is his to make alone.

Muras told the Record last week that he would recommend Drew Brossmann as his replacement. Brossmann serves as Muras’ second in command at the Pct. 4 Road and Bridge Department. Weber said he would consider Muras’ recommendation. However, Weber said he would not base his selection solely on Muras’ recommendation.

“He certainly has a right to his opinion, but when you get down to it, he doesn’t make the selections. The County Judge does,” Weber said.

“I’m going to try to find the best qualified person,” Weber said.
