Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest, LGPD Responds to Suspicious Activity
La Grange Police Chief reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Nov. 22-29.
Warrant Arrest
On Nov. 25, Maxwell while on routine patrol in the 1000 block of N. Von Minden made a traffic stop on a vehicle. The driver and passenger of the vehicle both had outstanding warrants. Both subjects were arrested and transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center.
Suspicious Person/Vehicle
On Nov. 22, Meinardus was dispatched to the 1000 block of N. Madison where caller stated that a subject he frequently complains about was at the gas station with another person. Officer gathered information.
On Nov. 23, Haman met with a subject at Chevron in the 100 block of W. Travis who did not speak English but appeared to be in need of help. After locating someone to translate it was determined that the subject was from another state and had a court date but was unable to find the courthouse.
On Nov. 23, Haman responded to a suspicious person in the 100 block of S. Jackson near the La Grange Elementary campus who appeared to be looking into vehicles. Subject was later located at his residence on Guadalupe and advised he cannot solicit on private property without a permit.
On Nov. 24, Currington was dispatched to the 500 block of W. Lowerline in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Officer checked the area but vehicle was gone upon officer’s arrival.
On Nov. 26, Maxwell was dispatched to the 1000 block of N. Madison in regard to suspicious circumstances. Officer called the subject several times but was unable to make contact.
On Nov. 28, Currington was dispatched to the 1900 block of W. State Highway 71 Business for suspicious subjects around a vehicle. Subjects had locked themselves out of the vehicle and had called someone to bring a spare key.
Alarm
On Nov. 23, Patrolman Brian Adams responded to the 1600 block of W. State Highway 71 Business for a report of a door and motion sensor alarm. Officer met with employee who advised that he did not have the correct alarm code.
On Nov. 24, Patrolman Kevin Currington responded to the 2000 block of W. State Highway 71 Business for an alarm going off. Officer checked the building and all was secure.
On Nov. 27, Patrolman Robbin Emmons responded to the 600 block of S. Jefferson for an alarm in the dining area.
Animal Complaint
On Nov. 27, Patrolman Curtis Zwahr assisted a subject removing a cow from the roadway in the 1900 block of W. State Highway 71 Business.
Accident
On Nov. 22, Patrolman John Wostarek was dispatched to the 1900 block of Highway 159 in regard to a traffic accident.
On Nov. 23, Adams responded to S. Ellinger and Florence Street for a truck tractor that struck a street post when turning. Report was completed.
On Nov. 28, Zwahr responded to a one vehicle minor accident at State Highway 71 Bypass near Highway 77.
Agency Assist
On Nov. 22, Wostarek assisted EMS in the 1400 block of W. State Highway 71 Business.
Burglary
On Nov. 23, Patrolman Brett Meinardus responded to the 1500 block of N. Jefferson where caller stated that he came in to open the station and found that someone had smashed out the front window and stole cigarettes and lottery tickets. Officer provided the subject with a statement form and took a photo of the scene.
Citizen Assist
On Nov. 22, Meinardus spoke with an individual in the 400 block of N. 3rd alley who stated that some kids were riding bikes in the middle of the road on N. Horton. When he slowed his vehicle down he stated that they were talking about taking his license plate number and he wanted to notify police why he slowed down if they complained.
On Nov. 26, Wostarek was dispatched to the 1800 block of N. Jefferson in regard to a water leak. Officer contacted city utilities about the water leak.
Civil Matter
On Nov. 23, Currington spoke to an individual in the 200 block of Rose Mayer about a civil matter.
Criminal Mischief
On Nov. 23, Adams responded to the 500 block of W. Lowerline where complainant reported that an unknown person entered the residence through an open window and knocked holes in the walls with a golf club. Residence was vacant at the time this occurred.
Driving While Intoxicated
On Nov. 25, Wostarek was dispatched to the 100 block of S. Jefferson in regard to a traffic accident, Officer arrived on location and spoke with both parties. One subject was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
Fraud
On Nov. 24, another jurisdiction detective contacted Patrolman Adams to request assistance with obtaining video footage from a local business regarding a fraud investigation.
Fire
On Nov. 26, Patrolman Mitchell Maxwell was dispatched to the 600 block of W. Lafayette in regard to illegal burning. Officer made contact with the homeowner and had him put out the fire and a warning was issued.
Harassment
On Nov. 27, Emmons took a report from complainant in the 400 block of N. Vail in regard to a known suspect harassing her.
On Nov. 28, Emmons responded to the 400 block of E. Milam where complainant reported that she has been separated from her husband since July and he has been harassing her by text.
Juvenile Complaint
On Nov. 24, Patrolman Cari Haman responded to the 200 block of Northpointe and met with the manager of River Oaks Apartments in reference to a juvenile complaint.
Littering
On Nov. 24, Haman received a call in reference to a subject dumping trash on private property in the 1500 block of Highway 159. Information was received and the person that dumped the trash was contacted to pick it up and dispose of it properly.
Runaway
On Nov. 23, Meinardus spoke with caller in the 500 block of Koening Lane who stated that her juvenile daughter snuck out of the house. Caller was able to contact her daughter and her father picked up the juvenile. The guardian of the juveniles house she went to was also notified of the incident.
Theft
On Nov. 22, Wostarek spoke with a caller in the 1200 block of W. Carroll Lane about a missing purse.
On Nov. 23, Adams was dispatched to the 1600 block of W State Highway 71 Business in regard to a vehicle stolen from his business over the weekend.
