St. John Roast Beef and Sausage Dinner Oct. 11
St. John Lutheran Church, located at the corner of W. Fayette St. and Grover St., will be sponsoring its annual fall fundraiser on Sunday, Oct. 11. There will be a limited number of tickets available for the roast beef and sausage dinner. It is advised that you purchase tickets by calling the following numbers: Lucille Koehl - (979) 966-7710; Maxine Brugger - (979) 966- 3225; or Sheila Brugger (979) 966-3174. You may also contact any church member. Plates will cost $10; there will be a drivethru lane from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The menu will include roast beef and sausage, buttered potatoes, gravy, pinto beans, cole slaw and dessert. The meal will be catered by Peters BBQ.
SLM News
The Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County (SLM) will be having in-person worship beginning Sunday, Oct. 4. Vicar Cole McGlynn will be shadowing Pastor Marcia Kifer in Warrenton and Fayetteville. This will be an introduction to the new intern. Pastor Bade will lead worship in Ellinger and Rutersville on this date.
Additionally, Rutersville is planning in-person worship on Sunday, Sept. 27, with a baptism. Vicar Cole will be shadowing Pastor Kifer for that service. Fayetteville will also open that day, probably meeting in the fellowship hall and watching the recorded sermon for that day.
SLM will continue to offer classes by Zoom. The links were sent out last week and are good for the duration of the studies. If you need the link, call Cheri.
Vicar Cole is leading a study on Hebrews for the Saturday Men’s Bible study that will be in-person at the Riverside cafe at 7 a.m. with Zoom beginning at 7:30 a.m.
Sunday book study will be with Pastor Marcia, reading “In Search of Belief ” by Joan Chittister.
Bible study with Pastor Marcia teaching the “I AM” statements of Jesus will be held on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
SLM is making plans for councils and committees to begin meeting in-person, if they choose to do so. The Sunday school team and Confirmation group will make decisions about those classes.
Ellinger’s Incorporation
Just a reminder that there is a meeting scheduled to hear about the plans for Ellinger’s Incorporation. It will be held on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m. at the Ellinger Community Center dining hall. Community members will be voting in the November general election to incorporate or not.
