Several Agencies Join Pursuit of Driver Resulting In Arrest
Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Wednesday, Sept. 23 afternoon around 3 p.m. Deputy Rick Bohlmann conducted a traffic stop on I-10 near the 668 mile marker eastbound near the Engle exit on a 2016 Nissan Altima for a traffic violation. As Deputy Bohlmann approached the stopped vehicle, he observed a male driver and female passenger as the vehicle sped off.
A pursuit ensued eastbound on I-10 as the suspect driver passed vehicles on the improved shoulder on I-10. Colorado County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the pursuit and Weimar Police Department assisted in the pursuit along with Colorado County Sheriff’s Deputies, Department of Public Safety, Columbus Police Department and Fayette County Drug Interdiction Investigators.
The suspect vehicle exited Business 71 in Columbus and stopped in the parking lot of a hotel. A felony stop was conducted by law enforcement and taken into custody was the male driver identified as 21-year-old Valentino Ezekiel Alvarado of San Antonio.
Alvarado was taken to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center and charged with evading arrest/detention with a vehicle a felony of third degree. The female passenger was identified and released to a family member.
