The event will happen Thursday, December 3 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Over 20

More than 20 teams will try to make the tastiest wassail, all vying for the coveted title of Schmeckenmeister.

The festive community kickoff to the Christmas season will start with a special appearance by Santa led by the La Grange High School Mighty Leopard Band. The band will be followed by the lighting of the County Christmas tree on the Fayette County Courthouse lawn and a performance by the La Grange High School German Club.

Come hungry because this Christmas festival in downtown La Grange will also include music and delicious treats sold by local nonprofit organizations around the Square. There will also be plenty of Christmas card worthy photo opportunities around the Square. Don’t forget about the after-hours shopping at the downtown stores. Keep the kids busy with a Christmas themed scavenger hunt provided by Camp Lone Star while you wrap up that last minute holiday shopping.

Don’t forget to visit store windows around the Square for the beautiful ornaments created by local PreK-6th graders. La Grange Main Street will host a Christmas ornament decorating contest to coincide with this year’s Schmeckenfest festivities. One winner per grade level will be selected and receive a $25 gift card.
