Art In The Park

Go to your favorite park in La Grange and sketch, draw, paint, snap a picture and or make a collage. Explain where you are, who is with you, what day and date you are visiting, and what is special to you about this park. Put information on the back of the artwork (max 11”x13”) with your name, age, and contact information. Bring your artwork to the Randolph Recreation Center by Nov. 20 to be displayed and for a chance to win a gift card. This begins Oct. 30 through Nov. 20 and is open to all ages. Second Chance

Donations at Second Chance Emporium will be accepted Nov. 23-25 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The donations drop-off area and sales store will be closed Nov. 26-29.

RT Family Library

The Round Top Family Library will be closed on Nov. 26 and 27 in observance of Thanksgiving.

Apple Strudel

The Young Neighbors in Action annual Apple Strudel Sale is Wednesday, Nov. 25 from 1 to 7 p.m., at the Queen of the Holy Rosary Church, Hostyn, Parish Hall. Baked or frozen strudel are $14 each. Reserve your strudel by calling the Parish Office at (979) 247-4441, ext 2.

Save Texas History Essay Contest

Do you know a fourth or seventh grader? The Texas General Land Office invites all public, private, and home-schooled students of appropriate age to participate in their annual Save Texas History Essay Contest and answer the question, “What history in your community is worth saving?” Topics can include any building, cultural event, public space, or organization that makes their local area unique. One winner from each grade will receive a $500 gift card courtesy of Chris Cantu of Edward Jones Investments, and eight finalists will receive a $100 gift card from Sons of the Republic of Texas and Buck Cole, as well as several other prizes from the Texas General Land Office Save Texas History Program. Christmas Coloring Contest

Fayette County Habitat for Humanity is having a Christmas Coloring Contest for grades 1-6. Winners will receive a $10 gift card to H-E-B as well as have their art featured in a Christmas Card fundraiser. Coloring pages can be found online at www.FayetteCounntyHabitat.org/2020contest. All entries are due by 5 p.m. on Nov. 30.

RT Family Library Giving Tuesday

Help Round Top Family Library reach more children, improve facilities, and purchase books for their free agricultural programs presented in partnership with Bluebonnet Master Gardeners. Donations up to a total of $15,000 given on or before Dec. 1 will be matched by a donor and your generous gift will be doubled. The total goal is $30,000. La Grange Community Blood Drive

Due to COVI-19, the annual Christmas Blood Drive will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at the KC Hall in La Grange from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. For the safety of donors, the hall will be set up to provide greater than necessary social distancing. Face masks will be required, if you forget to bring yours one will provided to you. As a part of the usual check in procedure, all donors will get the results of the new COVID anti-body test. Unscheduled donors (walk-ins) cannot be accomodated at this drive due to COVID social distancing requirements. For your appointment, call Al Henneke at (979) 966-2554 or L.J. Christmas Wreath Sale

Hospice Brazos Valley will be hosting their Wreath Sale again this year. Wreaths will be available at Schmeckenfest on Thursday evening, Dec. 3 and Friday, Dec. 4 at the Hospice Brazos Valley Office at 1048 N. Jefferson St. in La Grange from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. and again at the Hospice Christmas Arts and Crafts Market at the Historic Casino Hall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5. Arts And Crafts Market

The Hospice Brazos Valley Christmas Arts and Crafts Market will be held on Dec. 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Historic Casino Hall, 254 N. Jefferson. Social distancing will be practiced and masks will be requested. Santa will be there for pictures with appropriate social distancing (no lap sitting this year), lunch for purchase, a gift wrapping booth and the ever popular Christmas Wreaths that Hospice sells every year. Be sure and check the Hospice Brazos Valley Facebook and webpage for all the wonderful vendors you can expect at the market.

Malota Christmas Night Display

Out of love and concern for the Malota family as well as visitors, the Malota Christmas light display at 203 Thompson Street in Fayetteville will be minimized this year and will be drive by only. Santa, Mrs. Claus and Santa’s helpers will not be visiting.
