Back-to-School Festival Saturday

Join Tejas Healthcare for their annual Back-to-School Festival on Saturday, Aug. 1 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at 753 E. Travis St. in La Grange. Enjoy a free morning of fun, food, and back-to-school excitement: free backpacks (while supplies last), free school supplies, free food and fun for the whole family.

Adult Technology Training in LG

Come join us for Adult Technology Training at the Fayette County Library in La Grange on Saturday, Aug. 1, from 10 a.m. - noon. All computer questions are welcome. No one is born knowing this stuff. Blessing of the

Backpacks Sunday

New Life Methodist Church located at 1215 N. Von Minden St. in La Grange is honored to invite you to a Blessing of the Backpacks this Sunday, Aug. 2, during the 9 a.m. traditional worship or the 11:10 a.m. contemporary worship service. New Life Methodist want to bless area Pre-K through 12th Grade students, area teachers, staff and administrators in the school districts, as well as homeschoolers. Fellowship time with treats at 10 a.m.

There’s more The Sealy Dance will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Sealy American Legion Hall located at 1630 Meyer St., Sealy. The band, Scott Wilkinson & Ez Country, will be providing live music from 7:30-10:30 p.m. The public is always welcome.

Simmons, Lemons, Adams Reunion

The Simmons, Lemons, and Adams Annual Family Reunion will be held Saturday, Aug. 1 from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. at Blase’s Hall, (361) 772-4329, in Hallettsville. Blase’s is located nine miles east of Shiner and approximately 3 1/2 miles west of Hallettsville. Any descendants of the Simmons, Lemons or Adams that reside in Lavaca, Victoria, Harris, Travis, Bexar, Fayette, Dallas, Wharton, Caldwell, and other surrounding Texas counties are encouraged to attend. Please bring a dessert, a raffle gift (extras for our prize walk), vegetables, yourself, and others. The contest is “It’s Shoe Time!” Members will be judged, and four winners will receive monetary gifts. Scholarship winners are announced during the family reunion. FayCoBeeks Meeting

The Fayette County Beekeepers Association (FaycoBeeks) will hold its next meeting on Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Fayette CountyAgriculture Building in La Grange (255 Svoboda Ln). The evening begins with Beekeeping 101 from 4:30-5:30 p.m., a session ideal for beginners or anyone interested in getting started with honey bees. At 5:30 p.m., members and guests will enjoy a potluck dinner, please bring a favorite entrée, side, or dessert to share. Following dinner, the club will conduct its regular business meeting before welcoming this month’s guest speaker, Chris Moore of Moore Honey. Chris is a longtime Texas beekeeper and a passionate advocate for truth in honey labeling and consumer education. His presentation will explore managing your bee colonies during dearth and the importance of knowing where your honey comes from. As consumer demand for honey continues to grow, Chris will discuss the challenges facing the American honey industry and why transparency and quality matter to both beekeepers and consumers. Annual membership is $25 per individual or family, and guests are always welcome. FaycoBeeks meets on the first Saturday of each month (except July). Hermann Sons Life Plum

Hermann Sons Life Plum will meet Monday, Aug. 3, at 5 p.m. at Prairie Valley Schoolhouse, 2510 Williams Rd., West Point. The meal and dessert will be furnished. Please note the one time date change. Members are encouraged to join.

Homeschool Co-op Meeting

Greater Vision Team School is a Christian homeschool coop that offers science, history, geography, writing, P.E. and electives to children ages newborn to 8th grade, and science, writing and personal finance for high school age. The co-op meets every Tuesday at Camp Lutherhill in La Grange for 12 weeks each Fall and Spring semester. Families can join for the academic classes in the morning, the elective classes in the afternoon, or both. Hermann Sons Meeting

Hermann Sons Rutersville will hold their August membership meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 5, beginning at 7 p.m. The main meal provided by the lodge will be hamburgers. Please bring your favorite side dish or dessert to share.

South Lee County Barbecue

The South Lee County Volunteer Fire Department 46th Annual Barbecue will be held Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Serbin Picnic Grounds on FM 2239. Beef and pork BBQ to go at the pit will be available beginning at 4:30 p.m. Beef and pork BBQ plates served will all the trimmings will be served from 5-7:30 p.m. All plates and beverages are free will donation. Event times: 3-6 p.m. Silent auction; 3:30-6:30 p.m. The Blue Sunset Band; 5-8:30 p.m. barrel train rides; 6:30 p.m. live auction begins. All proceeds go towards updating fire equipment.

Isaac Hill Cemetery Meeting

The annual Isaac Hill Cemetery Association meeting will be held Sunday, Aug. 9 at the Round Top Courthouse. Meeting begins at 2 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend.

Community Prayer Gathering

Everyone is invited to the monthly Community Prayer Gathering, an area wide multi-church sponsored event, meeting the first Sunday of each month at Redimidos Por Cristo Church is located across the street from Tejas Healthcare at 131 S.
