Patrol Car Catches Fire

Patrol Car Catches Fire

La Grange FIre Chief Frank Menefee waits for a wrecker after putting out a car fire with his extinguisher Wednesday morning, Sept. 23. The fire happened around 11 a.m. near the intersection of Travis Street and SH 159. The vehicle was a sheriff’s patrol car from Cameron County. Menefee said a Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputy was transporting a prisoner when the front passenger side wheel bearing failed, causing a small fire and smoke. The prisoner was transferred to a City of La Grange Police car while Cameron County officials arranged for alternate transportation. Photo by Andy Behlen
