Muldoon Bakers Spread Holiday Cheer
Christmas Cheer
Lots of cookies were baked this week by local ladies Roberta Gullick, Pam Sheffield and Pam Knotts as they helped create gift bags for the residents and staff of Oak Manor Nursing Home in Flatonia. In recent years, this project was handled by Flatonia Baptist Church’s Children’s department, but due to COVID-19 restrictions preventing visits, these ladies stepped in and stepped up to send a message of love to the residents and staff. Each bag contained a variety of cookies, candy canes and a few Hershey’s Kisses. The staff always appreciates the ongoing efforts of the Women on Mission group’s outreach to the residents so they are not forgotten, and also the support and encouragement shown to the staff.
Cold
Muldoon got cold on Thursday morning with temperatures hitting 24ºF. Things took a while to warm up, but water was frozen and it was a bit on the chilly side. The weather report was indicating a warm-up following this cold morning. Winter definitely came to the area.
Out and About
Nancie and Billy Blair enjoyed a visit from their daughter in from Houston on Saturday. They had a wonderful time catching up in front of a fire pit. Then Nancie’s mom and sister came in from Fort Worth on Tuesday for a quick visit.
Pam Sheffield enjoyed a family get together to celebrate Thanksgiving at her home. From Cypress, her daughter and son-in-law, Allison and Dawson Williford, came out as well as her daughter and family from Spring, Sarah and Grey Holland, with their kids, Hayley and Benjamin. Since Pam’s home is halfway between Houston and San Antonio, they invited Grey’s parents, Alan and Danna Holland from Houston and his sister and her family from the San Antonio and Boerne areas to attend the Thanksgiving Day event. Abby and Erhart Asaad with their daughters, Paisley and Autumn, came in from San Antonio and Erharts’s parents, Mo and Joan Asaad, came in from Boerne. It was a fun filled special day for these families to celebrate together. Of course, there was lots of food with many delicious desserts and fun playing with the kids and dogs. They topped off the evening with a card game called “Salad Bowl,” which is a form of charades and had everyone laughing.
Neighborhood Watch
During these holiday times, be sure and stay vigilant. If you see something out of the ordinary at your neighbor’s place, call them and let them know. Take notes on what type of vehicle, the license plate number, the color of the vehicle and maybe a description of who is driving it. If they seem really out of place, call the sheriff’s office and report it. They will come out and make sure all is ok. There have been a few odd vehicles in the area, so be aware and alert your neighbors when you see something.
