More than Just Trump vs. Biden for Local Voters to Choose This Election

Early voting for the Nov. 3 General Election begins Oct. 13 and runs through Oct. 30. The Presidential election is attracting the most attention this year. However, a lot more is on the ballot because local elections that would have taken place in May were postponed until the General Election due to COVID-19.

• In the Flatonia ISD election, Ramon Lopez Jr. is running unopposed for Position 4. Two candidates are running for Position 5: incumbent LaVerne Dornak and challenger Dan Sullivan.

• The City of Flatonia will hold a contested mayoral and city council elections. Mayor Bryan Milano faces challenger James Longmire. Four people are running for two at-large seats on the city council: incumbents Mark Eversole and Donna Cockrell and challengers Pamela Stolarski and Allan Kocian.

• The Town of Round Top will hold two elections. Current Alderman Mark Massey is running against incumbent Barry Bone for Mayor. Two candidates are running uncontested for two at-large alderman positions in Round Top: Lynn Conine and incumbent Frank Hillbolt.

• In the City of Fayetteville, incumbent Scott Marshall Facebook challenger Neal Doty for City Council Place 1. Incumbent Bradley Girndt faces challenger Pam Doty for City Council Place 3. Incumbent Yvonne McCowen is running unopposed for Place 5. Fayetteville voters will also decide whether to reauthorize a ¼ cent sales tax to provide revenue for maintenance and repair of City streets. The tax will expire in four years unless citizens reauthorize it.

• The City of Schulenburg will hold a contested election for Alderman Place 4: incumbent Geoffrey Schiffli faces challenger Clarence Ahlschlager Jr. Incumbents Ben Herzik (Place 3) and Larry Veselka (Place 5) are running unopposed.

• Three elections will take place in the Lee-Fayette County Cummins Creek Water Control and Improvement District No. 1. Gary Weishuhn is running against Martin E. (Marty) Janczak for Director Place 1. Max R. Baranowski is running unopposed for Director Place 3, and Kevin M. Ullrich is running unopposed for Director Place 5.

Early voting takes place at the Fayette County Elections Office inside the courthouse in La Grange. Dates and times for early voting are as follows:

• Tuesday October 13 through Friday, October 16, 7:00 a.m. to 7 p.m.

• Saturday, October 17 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

• Sunday, October 18, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

• Monday October 19 through Friday, October 23, , 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2020 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

• Sunday, October 25, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

• Monday, October 26 through Friday, October 30, , 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
