Martin Luther Lutheran Church to Host Blood Drive

A Blood Drive has been scheduled at Martin Luther Lutheran Church on Nov. 15 from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the fellowship hall. It is in conjunction with Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Round Top. Appointments will again be required.

RT-C School News

The Round Top-Carmine High School varsity volleyball team was defeated by Burton in five sets on Oct. 20. The Jr. High team won in three sets.

On Oct. 23, varsity played a double-header with McDade, and won both games in three sets. This was to make up for the game which had been cancelled on Sept. 29.

Nov. 6 is a student holiday and professional development day.

Lutheran World Relief

The Lutheran World Relief Shipment of quilts and kits will be held on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville beginning at 8 a.m. It was postponed from Easter Monday.

Carmine VFD

The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department has a new contact for booking the Fireman’s Annex. Call Jennifer Mohr at (979) 716-1377 to book an event.

Drill night is Nov. 5. The regular meeting will most likely be cancelled due to Thanksgiving Day.

Christmas Box Donations

Men in Mission of Martin Luther Lutheran Church are collecting items for Christmas boxes for Port of Houston Seafarers. The deadline is Nov. 23. The items cannot be large, since they are placed in shoe boxes.

The list includes: address books, fabric bandages, small 2021 calendars, combs, dental floss, small packets of Kleenex, lip balm, lotion, nail clippers, Gold Bond cream and powder, antiperspirant/deodorant, disposable razors, flashlights and batteries, individual hot chocolate packets, needles and thread, Q-tips, shaving cream, soap, shampoo, gum and hard candy, key chains, pocket-size notebooks, mechanical pencils, pens, playing cards, individual microwave popcorn packets, socks, sudoku books, Texas souvenirs, t-shirts, USB flash drives and word search books.

Christmas Fest

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce will have their Christmas Fest on Dec. 6. In addition to craft booths and meal, they will hold a drawing. The cost per ticket will be $10 with 10 great prizes.

MLLC News

Saturday worship service with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m.

Sunday worship with Holy Communion and the Women of the ELCA Thankoffering Service, is at 10 a.m. The service will also be on mllccarmine. com. Property and Christian Ed Committees meet after worship. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.

AA meets Sunday at 5 p.m.

Quilting for Lutheran World Relief is Monday at 9 a.m.

Visitors’ Center

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Recycling

The Recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.

Items accepted are dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean no. 1 and no. 2 food grade plastics, all colors glass, steel food cans and aluminum cans. It is very helpful to have the recycled items separated. Attendants are available to help unload. They kindly ask that you please wait to drop off items until they are open.

The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30 to 11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
