Local’s Information Being Used to File for Unemployment in New York
Sheriff Keith Korenek reports activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of November 2020. Deputy Ben Wilson responded to an address off of FM 3233 for a reported stolen vehicle. A suspect was identified and the vehicle was recovered in Houston with one person arrested. Wilson also responded to an address off of Cozy Corner Road where a juvenile runaway female was reportedly located. Wilson arrived at the location and the runaway was recovered and returned to the rightful guardians.
Deputy Marc Bennett responded to a suspicious person in Fayetteville who was reported as assaulting a female in the area the previous night. The male was located and was arrested on a warrant for the assault. Bennett also spoke with a complainant who reported an unknown person was using his information to file unemployment in New York. Sergeant Ron Naumann met with a subject who located a firearm on the shoulder of the roadway. The firearm is being held at the Sheriff’s Office until claimed by the rightful owner. Naumann also took a report of an attempted theft of a vehicle in the Plum area during the night. The complainant was awakened by a barking dog and a suspect was seen running from the area by the complainant. The area was placed on close patrol.
Sergeant Investigator Angela Lala currently is investigating a theft of jewelry at a residence in the West Point area. A suspect has been identified and the case is pending. Lala also filed a case on a registered sex offender who failed to register as required by law and a warrant has been issued. Deputy Terry Guentert responded to the Flatonia area for a reported loose horse with no known owner. Estray paperwork was completed and the horse was picked up by the Flatonia Livestock Auction. Guentert also responded to a criminal mischief call at Clark’s trailer park. A car was vandalized and a suspect in the crime has been charged.
Deputy Herman Olvera responded to a vehicle fire on Interstate 10 near Schulenburg. The Schulenburg Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire and there were no reported injuries. Olvera also responded to Interstate 10 near Schulenburg for a disturbance between a male and female in a vehicle. The male was arrested for assault and possession of marijuana. Deputy Darrell Maze transported a mentally ill person to the Georgetown Behavioral Hospital.
Deputy Adam Mack responded to a reported suspicious vehicle on McCormick Road. Mack located the vehicle and the occupant of the vehicle was found to be in possession of a controlled substance and was arrested. Mack also responded to Baca’s Junction Bar near Fayetteville for an intoxicated person. The male was located and arrested for public intoxication. Deputy Kenn Kretz responded to the Flatonia area for several flags that were stolen.
Deputy Joe Gonzales responded to the Plum Post Office and the Warda Post Office where unknown person(s) made entry and removed a mailbox from the wall and ransacked the office area. Gonzales also took an assault report from a female and that case will be presented to the Fayette County Attorney’s Office. Deputy Michael Krenek responded to a residence in the Winchester area that had been burglarized with cash taken from the residence.
Deputy Tammy McCleney responded to a call of a loose goat. Estray paperwork was completed and the goat was transported to the Flatonia Livestock Auction. Deputy Jared Michalec stopped the driver of a vehicle in the La Grange area. Further investigation resulted in the driver being arrested for possession of methamphetamine. Michalec also stopped another driver of a vehicle in the La Grange area and during a consent search marijuana was located and the driver was arrested. Deputy Arvin Gresham recovered a stolen handgun located in a dry creek bank near Baumgarten Road.
Fayette County Correction Officers booked in 47 individuals for the month of November and transported six individuals to the Texas Department of Corrections Facilities to begin serving their time for crimes committed in Fayette County.
