LGISD Has New Cases of COVID-19

Last week was the most active in terms of COVID cases at La Grange Independent School District since the start of school.

One high school student (a 9th grader), two elementary students (second graders), one middle schooler, and one middle school staff member all tested positive for COVID.

In addition, superintendent Bill Wagner said 27 students (who were either family members or classmates deemed to have had close contact with the students that tested positive) were sent home to quarantine and do at-home learning because of the recent positive cases.

In the last couple of weeks, Flatonia, Round Top-Carmine and Fayetteville have all announced they are ending their remote learning option for students, but Wagner said La Grange ISD will continue to offer the at-home learning option for all students (not just those required to quarantine) at least for another six weeks.

Currently the number of LGISD students choosing to learn from home are: 59 elementary students, 15 middle schoolers and 30 high schoolers.

Countywide update

Countywide, the number of positive COVID cases stood at 12 as of Sunday night with another 14 more probable cases according to county officials.
