LG Police Chief Reports on Recent Activity
La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Dec. 20-27.
Assault
On Dec. 21, Patrolman Brett Meinardus responded to the 500 block of E. Milam where caller stated that a suspect assaulted her by punching her in the face repeatedly. Officer went to location and suspect had fled the location in a vehicle. Officer took information and photographed the complainant’s injuries.
Accident
On Dec. 21, Patrolman Brian Adams responded to the 1800 block of Highway 159 where a white Chevrolet was traveling on Highway 71 eastbound on the frontage road and failed to yield right of way and struck a silver Dodge pickup traveling south on Highway 159. The Dodge pickup was towed and a crash report was completed and a citation was issued.
On Dec. 22, Patrolman Cari Haman responded to the 400 block of E Travis for a minor traffic accident that occurred in the HEB parking lot.
On Dec. 22, Patrolman Kevin Currington was dispatched to the 1800 block of Highway 159 for an accident.
On Dec. 22, Patrolman Curtis Zwahr responded to a onevehicle accident in the 200 block of Ellinger Road. Officer took information.
On Dec. 24, Patrolman Mitchell Maxwell was dispatched to the intersection of E. Fannin and N. Franklin in regard to a two-vehicle accident. Officer took report and citation was issued.
Alarm
On Dec. 20, Maxwell was dispatched to the 2000 block of W. State Highway 71 Business in regard to an alarm. Officer checked the business and found it to be secured.
On Dec. 21, Zwahr responded to an alarm in the 200 block of N. Main. Employee had set off alarm.
On Dec. 21, Adams responded to the 600 block of S. Jefferson for a dining area alarm. Officer arrived on location and all was secure.
On Dec. 23, Adams responded to the 2000 block of W. State Highway 71 Business for a front door alarm. Upon arrival officer discovered the locksmith was changing door lock at owners request.
On Dec. 24, Meinardus responded to the 800 block of E. Fannin where caller stated that the alarm was going off at the location. Officer checked the building and found it was secure with no signs of forced entry.
On Dec. 25, Meinardus responded to the 800 block of E. Travis for an alarm going off. Officer checked the building and found all secure.
On Dec. 26, Sgt. Travis Anderson received an alarm call with interior motion in the 400 block of N. Jefferson. Upon arrival officer located three business vehicles in the parking lot and a side door unlocked. Officers located an employee inside who stated the alarm had been armed by mistake by another employee thinking everyone was gone. Call cleared.
Agency Assist
On Dec. 24, Maxwell was dispatched to the 1600 block of Jefferson in regard to an inmate that was being irate. The inmate had calmed down prior to officer’s arrival.
On Dec. 25, Zwahr assisted county deputies with a combative subject at the St. Mark’s Hospital emergency room.
On Dec. 26, Zwahr responded to the 1600 block of N. Jefferson to a call of a combative inmate. The inmate calmed down while officer was on scene and did not need to be moved between cells.
Animal Complaint
On Dec. 20, Maxwell was dispatched to the 300 block of Ellinger Road in regard to a dog attack. A citation was issued.
On Dec. 21, Currington was dispatched to the 600 block of E. State Highway 71 Bypass for a dog that was hit by a car. Officer made contact with the driver and assisted with a wrecker. Animal control picked up dog.
On Dec. 24, Meinardus responded to the 700 block of E. Fannin where caller stated that a subject asked if his dog could stay at the location for a short time and she allowed it. However she asked the subject to pick up the dog before the holidays but the subject has not picked up the dog. Officer attempted to locate the subject but the subjects phone was off.
On Dec. 26, Currington was dispatched to a retention pond near the high school in the 800 block of S. Vail for a dog in distress in the water. Officers were able to rescue the dog from the steep walled retention pond.
On Dec. 27, Currington responded to the 600 block of N. Washington and spoke to complainant about a rooster crowing.
Civil Matter
On Dec. 22, Sgt. Travis Anderson responded to the 900 block of S. Jefferson in regard to a civil matter.
On Dec. 22, Adams responded to the 500 block of E. Guadalupe where complainant gave money to an individual for safe keeping while he was under the influence of drugs but now wants the money back and the individual will not give it to him. Officer spoke with other individual regarding the matter.
On Dec. 22, Patrolman David Mohr received a call of a civil matter in the 500 block of E. Guadalupe.
Citizen Assist
On Dec. 24, Meinardus was dispatched to the 800 block of N. Horton where caller stated that a house at the location had a light flashing on and off. Officer checked the location and found that it was the residence’s Christmas lights and the call was cleared.
Driving While Intoxicated
On Dec. 24, Patrolman John Wostarek was dispatched to the 1900 block of W. State Highway 71 Business in regard to a traffic accident. Subject was arrested for driving while intoxicated and was transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center.
Disorderly Conduct
On Dec. 21, Zwahr responded to the 400 block of N. Jefferson in regard to an incident.
On Dec. 24, Maxwell was dispatched tot the 800 block of E. Travis in regard to a subject being irate to customers. Subject had already left prior to officer arriving. Officer searched the area but was unable to locate the subject.
Loud Rooster
On Dec. 23, Currington was dispatched to the 600 block of N. Washington for a loud rooster crowing. Officer checked the area but could not find the rooster.
Suspicious Person/Vehicle
On Dec. 20, Koehne checked on a suspicious person in the 200 block of E. Travis.
On Dec. 21, Currington spoke with a subject in the 500 block of S. College about a suspicious subject encountered during a fundraising sale. Officer took information.
On Dec. 24, Meinardus was dispatched to the 100 block of E. Pecan where caller stated that there was a car in the driveway of the location with its emergency lights flashing and found the horn honking. Officer checked and found the homeowner was looking for something in the vehicle and accidently hit the emergency lights.
On Dec. 26, Anderson received a call of a suspicious male in the 100 block of E. Travis.
Family Violence
On Dec. 24, Patrolman Justin Koehne responded to the 700 block of N. Eckel where complainant advised her brother assaulted her. Subject was issued a citation for assault.
Theft
On Dec. 20, Meinardus responded to the 1900 block of W. State Highway 71 Business where complainant stated that a subject had come into the store repeatedly and taken several items without paying for them. Officer gathered statement and surveillance photographs of the subject.
On Dec. 22, Mohr received a call to meet with a complainant in the 100 block of Northwest Circle in reference to a theft. Officer took report.
Welfare Check
On Dec. 20, Wostarek was dispatched to the 1000 block of S. Jefferson in regard to a welfare check on a male subject. Officer arrived on location and searched the area and the male subject left prior to officer’s arrival.
On Dec. 27, Mohr responded to the 200 block of Northwest Circle for a welfare check on a citizen. Officer arrived and assisted EMS with entry to the residence.
Warrant Arrest
On Dec. 23, Wostarek arrested a subject for an outstanding warrant in the 2200 block of W. State Highway 71 Business.
On Dec. 26, Mohr received a call of a disturbance in the 400 block of Sherwood and arrested a subject on a felony warrant.
Miscellaneous
On Dec. 23, Wostarek was dispatched to the 500 block of E. Pearl in regard to a trailer in the middle of the street. Officer arrived on location and moved the trailer off the street.
On Dec. 26, Mohr received a call of a subject causing a disturbance in the 1900 block of W. State Highway 71 Business. Officer arrived and issued a criminal trespass warning.
