La Grange Woman Injured in Wreck

A La Grange woman suffered serious injuries in a wreck on SH 237 last Sunday, Nov. 8.

The wreck happened around 8:27 a.m near the intersection of 237 and FM 1291. A report from the Texas Department of Public Safety said Blanca Stacey Galinda Rodriguez, 22 of La Grange, was driving a black 2015 Jeep Renegade north on 237. The report said the Jeep was traveling at an unsafe speed for the wet road conditions. The driver lost control and began to hydroplane, the report said. The Jeep traveled across the southbound lane and off the roadway. It entered the southbound bar ditch and hit the steep incline before FM 1291, causing the Jeep to go airborne. It landed on the other side of 1291, struck a wooden sign and began to roll.

The Jeep struck a tree while rolling and came to rest on private property facing south on its right side.

Rodriguez suffered injuries that were described as serious in the DPS report. She was wearing a lap belt and multiple airbags deployed in the vehicle, the report said. The report said Rodriguez was taken to the Smithville hospital by private vehicle.

The wreck was investigated by Trooper Richard Dozier
