La Grange Police Investigating Assault

La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Sept. 6-13.

Assault

On Sept. 8, Patrolman Brett Meinardus was dispatched to the 100 block of E. Colorado for a disturbance. Officer arrived and met with the subject who was assaulted. Officer spoke to the subject and called for an ambulance to treat the individual. The subject was taken to St. Mark’s Medical Center where he refused treatment. The officer is investigating the assault and will complete a report to present to the county attorney’s office.

Animal Complaint

On Sept. 6, Patrolman Curtis Zwahr responded to Svoboda Lane and assisted with putting a cow back in the pasture.

On Sept. 7, Patrolman John Wostarek was dispatched to the 400 block of E. Travis in regard to a dog that was in a vehicle. Officer arrived on location and spoke to the owner of the vehicle. Windows were cracked and the dog had water.

On Sept. 9, Zwahr responded to the 1400 block of W. State Highway 71 Business in regard to a loose cow. Officer contacted the owner to put the cow up.

Agency Assist

On Sept. 6, Zwahr responded to the 100 block of Fannin and searched the area for a vehicle potentially being driven by a wanted subject. Officer observed no vehicle that matched the description.

Accident

On Sept. 12, Patrolman Justin Koehne investigated a minor accident in the 600 block of S. Jefferson and W. Cedar. One of the drivers was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Family Violence

On Sept. 8, Koehne was dispatched to the 600 block of E. Lafayette for a family violence assault. Subject was arrested.

On Sept. 9, Meinardus was dispatched to the 400 block of N. Horton where complainant stated that he confronted the subject regarding their relationship and she became angry and hit, scratched and bit him. Officer spoke to the subject who stated that he struck and pushed her. Officer gathered both of their statements and separated them. Officer completed an incident report to be presented to the county attorney.

Citizen Assist

On Sept. 12, Meinardus spoke with an individual at the police station in reference to a narcotics complaint. Officer gathered information and will refer to the narcotics task force.

Public Intoxication

On Sept. 6, Zwahr responded to One St. Mark’s Place for an intoxicated subject. Subjects were gone upon officers arrival.

Reckless Driving

On Sept. 11, Meinardus was dispatched to the 500 block of W. Lowerline Street where caller stated that a white pickup drove through the area at a very high rate of speed and he was concerned because children play in the area. Officer searched the area and could not locate a vehicle matching the description given.

Suspicious Person

On Sept. 6, Patrolman Kevin Currington was dispatched to the 800 block of E. Roitsch for a subject who heard a boom on the side of her residence. The boom turned out to be a blown fuse on a transformer. Electrical crews were on scene to repair fuse and restore power.

On Sept. 6, Currington was dispatched to One St. Mark’s Place for a subject who was asked to leave.

On Sept. 8, Meinardus responded to the 1700 block of E. State Highway 71 Bypass for a subject who had been at the location all day. Officer could not find anyone at the location or in the surrounding area.

On Sept. 11, Wostarek was dispatched to the 1000 block of E. Eblin in regard to a suspicious person who ran up to the callers car. Officer arrived on location and searched the area, but officer was unable to locate the suspicious person.

Suspicious Vehicle

On Sept. 11, Patrolman Mitchell Maxwell responded to the 200 block of E. Pearl where a truck had been parked by the complainant’s house and when she walked outside the truck left. The truck is a new F-150 gray in color.

On Sept. 11, Maxwell was dispatched to the 500 block of S. Reynolds where caller advised of a white male in his 30’s wearing a purple shirt, sweatpants yelling and cursing while walking down the street. Officer was unable to locate.

On Sept. 11, Maxwell was dispatched to the 300 block of N. Monroe in regard to suspicious activity.

Trespassing

On Sept. 8, Wostarek was dispatched to the 700 block of E. Walnut in regard to a subject who was trespassing. Officers arrived on location and spoke with the caller who wanted to issue the subject a criminal trespass. Officer issued subject a criminal trespassing for the location.

Verbal Dispute

On Sept. 7, Maxwell was dispatched to the 800 block of Scherrer in regard to a disturbance. Officer spoke with both parties and both advised officer that the dispute was only verbal.

Welfare Check

On Sept. 7, Wostarek was dispatched to a welfare check in the 400 block of W. Colorado. Officer arrived on location and spoke with a female subject. Subject advised everything was fine.

On Sept. 12, Meinardus was dispatched to the 100 block of E. Travis where caller stated that a female was walking down the street barefoot and bleeding from the arm. Officer made contact with the subject who stated that she was bitten by a rat in her apartment and fled when she found more rats. Subject requested that we contact a friend to come and pick her up so she could deal with the problem. Subject denied medical assistance.

Miscellaneous

On Sept. 9, Meinardus responded to the 400 block of E. Travis for a fire alarm. Officer spoke with the stock manager who stated that a fire alarm was damaged causing the alarm.

On Sept. 9, Currington was dispatched to the 600 block of E. State Highway 71 Bypass for loud music. Officer made contact and subject turned down music.

On Sept. 9, Zwahr responded to a 911 hang up in the 700 block of S. Washington. No one answered when officer knocked. Officer could hear no one inside so officer spoke with a neighbor who stated resident was staying with daughter elsewhere.

On Sept. 10, Zwahr spoke with a caller in regard to a narcotics complaint in the 400 block of N. Main.

On Sept. 10, Zwahr assisted a citizen with moving a vehicle from the roadway in the 1900 block of W. State Highway 71 Business. Officer then assisted with getting gas so the citizen could drive again.

On Sept. 12, Meinardus responded to the 100 block of S. Main for loud music. Officer met with the owner who immediately turned down the music.
