Judge to Appoint Brossmann

Fayette County Judge Joe Weber announced Tuesday, Dec. 16, that he will appoint Drew Brossmann to serve the unexpired term of Pct. 4 Commissioner Tom Muras, who retires at the end of this month. Muras’ term ends in 2022.

Brossmann currently serves as Pct. 4 Road and Bridge Superintendent. The Schulenburg native has worked for the Pct. 4 Road and Bridge department since July 2012.

Texas Government Code stipulates that the County Judge has sole authority to appoint someone to fill a vacancy on the Commissioners Court.

“I believe Drew Brossmann is the best pick at this time to complete the term of current Pct. 4 Commissioner Tom Muras, who has decided to retire at the end of this year,” Weber told the Record on Tuesday. “Drew Brossmann is well-known in the precinct, and has served Precinct 4 and the communities in the precinct in various ways for a number of years. He will do a fine job and I look forward to working with him in the future.

At 38 years old, Brossmann will be the youngest member of the Commissioners Court. In addition to working for the county, Brossmann serves as an assistant chief in the Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department. Muras recommended Brossmann for the job when he announced his retirement earlier this month.

The position will come up for election in 2022.
