Final Second Saturday Soiree is This Week
Art Connections Gallery will be busy this Saturday with its monthly reception Second Saturday Soiree with a featured artist, a jewelry trunk show, and two book signings along with artists being present and live music going the full time.
“Yarn artisf ‘ Kaytha Coker Potts of Lufkin, Texas, will be the featured artist. She has some very beautiful paintings done with a mixed media of paint, fabric, and yarn. This unique style of art was inspired by the folk art of the Huichol people of Mexico. Many of her most popular images are “remastered” pieces inspired by the Old Masters. Kaytha’s work was chosen “Best of Show” at the first Bayou City Arts Festival that she ever entered after being wait-listed and added after artists dropped out.
Jewelry designer and silversmith Amber Tiemann of League City will be having a trunk show of her jewelry featuring silver settings, stones, glass, and enameling. Her jewelry has a wonderfully contemporary aesthetic inspired by modern artists and architects.
Charles Hebert of La Grange will be there to sign his newest book “On the Run!!!” a nonfiction tale of the formation of Texas based on his extensive research of the diaries of Sam Houston, Santa Anna, and many of the Texans involved in the Runaway Scrape and the formation of Texas.
Local author, Marie Watts, will hold her La Grange debut of her new novel “Only a Pawn” with a book signing during the event. Her career as an employment discrimination investigator and human relations specialists has given the inspiration for this story of mystery and intrigue.
There will be music during the event with Collin Guerra starting the day from 1-4 p.m. and Travis Tharp following from 4-7 p.m.
