Fayette County Retired Teachers Enjoy Quilt Museum Tour and Plan Holiday Fundraiser
The Fayette County Retired Teachers Association (FCRTA) participated in a “field trip” in La Grange on Monday, Oct. 12. After a delicious lunch at Reba’s the members gathered downtown at the Texas Quilt Museum. The museum’s Managing Director, Deborah Blanchette Bradley, gave a private tour to the group while explaining the history of the building and the significance of the beautiful quilts on display. The museum also houses an extensive public library about quilts and quilting. The entertaining and informative outing was enjoyed by all who attended.
Upcoming FCRTA Events
FCRTA will sponsor a Christmas Country Market on Nov. 6 - 7 to raise funds for the Texas Retired Teachers Foundation (TRTF). This branch of the Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA) gives assistance to retired and current public school employees in the form of scholarships, grants and disaster relief.
All TRS annuitants (TRS pension recipients) are invited to join us at our next FCRTA meeting held Monday, Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. at the New Life Methodist Church’s Fellowship Hall in La Grange.
One of TRTA’s goals is to increase membership across the state so that all Texas public school employees, current and retired, have a strong voice in the legislative process which regulates our finances. Contact fayettecountyrta@gmail.com to join.
