Ellinger Seeks Mayoral Candidates
Rheagan Karisch, age eleven, shot her first whitetail buck Jan. 2 at the hunting lease in Eldorado. She shot a nice seven pointer while hunting with her grandma, Carolyn Bartosh. Her mom and grandpa also got bucks the same evening. Needless to say it was a busy evening processing all that venison. The family also enjoyed building snowmen, snow angels, and having snowball fights. This area of Texas got rainfall followed by freezing rain, and eight inches of snow. It was a cold lovely scene, but we were without electricity for over twenty-four hours. Luckily they had a propane furnace.
The City of Ellinger announces that any Ellinger citizen wishing to run for the office of Mayor or commissioner needs to pick up an application in order to be placed on the ballot for election in May. Applications can be obtained from a city representative at the Ellinger Chamber of Commerce Hall from 7-10 a.m. on normal business days from Jan. 13-Feb. 12. The city election will be held on May 1. The next meeting for the City of Ellinger has been scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 28 at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will be at the Ellinger Community Center-Dining Hall. The agenda will be posted at the Ellinger Post Office prior to the meeting.
St. John Lutheran Church
St. John Lutheran Church Council of Ellinger met in mid December. The 2021 budget was approved, and the annual meeting was set for Sunday, Jan. 10 following regular worship. Plans for donations to local residents were finalized as well as gifts for the pastor, office staff, and three children. The Pure Country 4-H members and St. John partnered to provide Christmas gifts for a family of six children from the congregation at Christmas. Additionally the Ellinger Council is seeking members willing to fill vacant council positions. Two people are needed for three year terms, one person for a one year term, and a delegate is needed to serve on the Shared Lutheran Ministry Council for a four year term.
Shared Lutheran Ministry
The Shared Lutheran Ministry Council will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 5:30 p.m. in Warrenton. The Congregation of Councils will also meet at Warrenton at 6:30 p.m.
Ellinger Sewer and Water
The Ellinger Sewer and Water Supply Corporation will hold its regular monthly meeting on Monday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station. The applications for board elections are due to the bookkeeper, Carissa Karisch, by Jan. 5. The Annual Meeting of the EWSC is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 18 at the Ellinger Fire Station.
Ellinger C of C
The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce will hold its regular monthly meeting and annual meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 12 at 7 p.m. More details can be found at ellingertexas.com.
