Ellinger Residents to Vote on Incorporation

Rilan Karisch, Fayette County Little Mister, rode the Fayette County Fair float at the Czhilispiel parade in Flatonia on Sunday, Oct. 25.
Rheagan Karisch participated in the Brazos Valley Fair on Saturday, Oct. 24. She showed several of her heifers and placed in her classes, but won no divisions. She placed in the top six for showmanship. You have to love showing cattle to be up at 5 a.m. and at the wash rack by 6 a.m. and participate for 18 hours at the show.
Ellinger Residents to Vote on Incorporation

Don’t forget that the issue of Ellinger’s Incorporation will appear on the Nov. 3 ballot. There seems to be some controversy over the decision to incorporate. One can see ‘Vote No’ signs in some yards and ‘Vote Yes’ signs in others.

As I was told, our sales tax will only increase by one cent; no taxes can be levied until a charter is put in place, as well as the five year plan. Residents will have a vote as to what rules will be put into place. Businesses along State Hwy 71 are attracting customers. These visitors are spending money here that can be collected in the form of the sales tax increase if incorporation passes. More visitors to our community puts a strain on the water and sewer utilities. Some of the tax dollars collected could be used to help pay for low interest loans for future infrastructure, such as a new sewer plant.

If you have questions or concerns, speak with Matt Mikulenka, Joe Lamer or Kenny Stojanek. As with any election, get all the facts before passing judgment.
