Ellinger Cattle Win in Mississippi; City Meeting Monday

City of Ellinger Meeting

The first meeting of the newly formed City of Ellinger is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 21. The meeting will be held at the Ellinger Chamber of Commerce Dining Hall at 6 p.m. An agenda will be posted in the Post Office on Dec. 14 after 3 p.m.

Ellinger SPJST Lodge No. 51

Ellinger SPJST Lodge No. 51 will not have their annual Christmas social and meeting in December. They will update you when they will meet again. For any questions, you can contact Calvin Hlinsky at (979) 378-2364. Thank you and Merry Christmas!

Karisch Cattle Company

The Karisch Cattle Company Clan, Laurie and Curtis Karisch of Rutersville, Brandon and Carissa Karisch of Ellinger, Matt and Brandi Karisch of Mississippi, Steven Karisch of College Station, and grandkids Mason, Miles, Rilan and Rheagan, combined a cattle show and an early Christmas celebration this past weekend at the Mississippi Youth Expo in Jackson, Miss..

Rheagan Karisch exhibited four of her heifers at the Mississippi Youth Expo on Sunday, Dec. 13. Rheagan placed first in her class with all four of her heifers. Her Beefmaster E6 heifer, Diva, went on to be selected Reserve Champion American AOB heifer. Rheagan won a belt buckle and a cash prize. Mason Karisch, son of Matt and Brandi, made his showing debut at the event under the guidance of his cousin Rheagan.

Not only did the group enjoy showing cattle together, they also celebrated Mason and Miles’s birthdays.

Hermann Sons Life Lodge

The Ellinger Hermann Sons Life Lodge will not be meeting for the remainder of 2020. They will keep you updated as to when the lodge will meet again. For more information, contact Diane Marusik.

SLM News

The Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County has scheduled its Advent services. The Theme for Advent is “Jesus’ Family Tree,” and it will lift up seven of the ancestors of Jesus and how each contributed to the focus of His mission.

On Dec. 16 in Rutersville, the Wednesday evening worship begins at 6 p.m. using the Holden Evening Prayer format. No soup suppers will be held this year.

The SLM will offer the Longest Night Worship on Monday, Dec. 21, at 6 p.m. at Rutersville. You can join in person or online.

This year, of all years, we have so much to lament. This service is a way to find hope in the midst of it all. Please join us. There will be no church on Wednesday, Dec. 23.

Christmas Eve Services will be as follows: 5 p.m. in Ellinger; 6 p.m. in Warrenton; 7 p.m. in Fayetteville; and 8 p.m. in Rutersville.

On Dec. 27, there will be lessons and Christmas Carols at 9 a.m. in Warrenton. No breakfast will be served following the joint worship.

Fayetteville Brethren Church

The Fayetteville Brethren Church, located at 1022 Kramr Rd., will have a parking lot Christmas service on Saturday, Dec. 19, at 11 a.m. The service with Holy Communion will be led by Rev. Mike Groseclose. If you attend, you are asked to please stay in your vehicle. In person services will not be held until further notice.

Other services held are at Industry Brethren as parking lot services on Saturdays, Dec. 12 and 19 at 3 p.m.. In person services are at Wesley Brethren on Sundays at 9 a.m. and Nelsonville Brethren on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Mike Groseclose leads all the services. Christmas services will be held on Dec. 19 at Fayetteville and Industry and Dec. 20 at Wesley and Nelsonville. The Nelsonville service is live streamed on Nelsonville Brethren’s FaceBook page.
