Ellinger Votes to Incorporate

Residents of Ellinger voted 76-44 to incorporate their community. Uncontested elections for mayor and two town commissioners also took place, which were contingent on the incorporation vote. Matt Mikulenka will serve as mayor with Joe Lamer and Kenneth Stojanik as commissioners. Supporters of the incorporation effort say it will allow the new city to apply for grant funds and collect a small sales tax to support the community’s beleaguered public water service.

Early Voting

Fayette County Elections Office posted early voting results this evening.

More than 42% of registered voters in Fayette County cast their ballots early. In Fayette County, President Donald Trump leads Joe Biden with more than 77% of the early vote. 

In local elections, early voters in Ellinger favored the incorporation question by a vote of 37 for to 27 against.

Flatonia Mayor Bryan Milson leads challenger James Longmire 230-88.

Round Top Mayor Barry Bone trails challenger Mark Massey 16-34.

Schulenburg Councilman Geoffrey Schiffli trails challenger Clarence Ahlschlager Jr. 220-326.
