Election Day is Here, Even as Thousands Have Voted Early

Heading into election day, more people have already voted in the state of Texas than did back in 2016 during early voting and election day combined.

That 2016 vote total was 8,969,226, an all-time record then. But as of press time 9,718,648 people have already voted in Texas. Fayette County has not broken its voting record – yet. Through the final day of early voting, Oct. 30, some 9,458 had voted early in Fayette County but that’s still shy of the total numbers of voters who cast ballots here back in 2016, when 5,982 voted early and another 5,181 voted on election day.

If you are one of the roughly 46-percent of registered voters in Fayette County that has not voted yet, below is a reminder of election day polling locations, which will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. In addition to the national and state races, there are several local races on the ballot. We’ll have online results Tuesday and Wednesday and complete coverage in Friday’s edition.
