City of LG Mask Policy Differs From County’s

La Grange City Manager Shawn Raborn said the City will continue to ask customers to wear face masks in City Hall and other city offices. He said employees will continue wearing masks as well, despite Governor Greg Abbott’s decision to lift the statewide mask order on March 10.

“We’re still going to ask people to wear a mask for now,” said La Grange City Manager Shawn Raborn. “We’re going to be asking staff about what they feel safe with, but I suspect many employees will want to continue wearing masks.”

The City’s policy for now stands in contrast to that of Fayette County. County Judge Joe Weber said last week that he would not require the public to wear masks in the courthouse and other county offices. County employees may wear masks if they wish, Weber said.

The Governor’s announcement last week came as a surprise to many. Businesses, local governments and other organizations are responding in various ways. H-E-B last week said it would continue to require employees to wear masks while “urging” customers to do the same. The company changed directions over the weekend after facing criticism on social media. The grocery giant now says it will require customers to wear masks as well.
