Christmas In Muldoon Canceled
Christmas in Muldoon has been canceled due to the ongoing pandemic. It had been held on the second Saturday in December. We will all have to wait and see what next year brings if the fun gathering in Muldoon will go on.
Muldoon Fellowship Center
The Muldoon Fellowship Center (formerly the Methodist Church behind the park) will host an event from 4 to 6 p.m. on Dec. 5. Bring a food dish such as an appetizer, finger foods, salad, vegetable/fruit tray, bread, dessert or just a favorite food. This event will be a fun time for the area ladies to gather. The only requirement is that the food must be eaten with fingers or a fork. Please text with your RSVP or questions to (281) 682-5625 or (979) 702-1076. There also will be a gift exchange. Your gift value should be $2-3, wrapped or in a gift bag.
Toy Collection
The Muldoon Fire Department will be collecting toys for the Fayette County Sheriff’s department, along with nonperishable foods for the AMEN Pantry. Donations will be accepted at the fire station on Dec. 12 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Donations can also be dropped off during the ladies’ event on December 5.
Out and About
Last week, Pam Sheffield welcomed her two best friends from high school to spend a week with her. Susi Jones from Burleson and Holly Skinner-Klee from Kingwood came in on Monday. These friends periodically spend a week together whenever everyone is available. As usual, these ladies went to La Grange for a lunch at Las Fuentes and then went to HEB for grocery shopping to sustain all the visiting. It is usually a fun pajama party when these ladies get together watching movies, laughing about old times and doing a little cooking. This trip, since the weather was beautiful, they went out on Pam’s property a couple times to explore the area. They managed to check out several local restaurants, driving to Sealand in La Grange for shrimp and steak lunches and then to Darlin’s Diner in Flatonia on Friday for the diner’s grand opening and a delicious breakfast. They also visited the Railroad Museum and got a tour of the new trains with all the bells and whistles. No girls’ gathering is complete without the group making a trip to Rhinestone Angel, where Susi picked up some items for Christmas stocking stuffers. Later, the group traveled over to Praha to check out the painted churches. These ladies stayed busy all week and are looking forward to getting together again in the future.
Traffic
There has been some interesting traffic in and around Muldoon. The occasional motorcycle group comes through, but on Saturday, a group of old cars passed through the area. They not only came through in the morning, but also came back through in the evening. It was fun watching them drive by, as if a bygone era had come to life again. Ill
During these uncertain times, be sure and check on your neighbors. Make a call to check on them and see if they are OK. Reach out to your elderly neighbors especially to see if maybe you could pick up their groceries or save them a trip into town, and thus save them from possible exposure to some bug or illness. We all need to help each other to make it through these strange times.
