Car Fire in Ellinger

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Wednesday, Dec. 9 around 11:57 p.m. the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a car on fire on State Hwy. 71 Westbound near Kitchen Ln. in the Ellinger area. The Ellinger Fire Department was notified and responded to the scene along with Investigator Garrett Durrenberger. Upon arrival a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze passenger car was fully engulfed by fire. The fire was quickly extinguished and there were no reported injuries. According to the driver the vehicle was overheating and he pulled over when he observed fire coming from under the hood.
