Brenham Man Charged in Connection With Homicide

• A Brenham man has been charged for his alleged role in a Bryan homicide last month. Cochise Hickey, 38, has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Hickey was taken into custody by College Station Police on Nov. 3 on an unrelated charge. He was then interviewed by Bryan officers in regard to a shooting death on Long Dr. on Oct. 27. According to authorities, Hickey admitted to being at the scene to help with a drug deal that led to the death of 46-year old Roderick Morrison. Hickey reportedly told authorities he knew some in the group were armed and planned to rob Morrison.
• Two people were transported for injuries after a threevehicle accident on Oct 29 on Highway 36 S. at the highway’s intersection with FM 109, next to K&M Grocery in Brenham. The accident occurred shortly after 4:15 p.m. Upon arrival, Washington County EMS found that the passenger of one of the vehicles, 47-year-old Keith Alan Lorentz, had possible life-threatening injuries and brought their Air Rescue Unit for transport to an area hospital. The following day, Oct 30 at about 3:30 a.m., Lorentz passed away from injuries suffered during the crash. The driver of the same vehicle, as well as the driver of a separate vehicle, were transported and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The cause of the crash has not been released at this time.

• Investigators are still looking into what caused a three-car accident along U.S. Highway 77 North between Hallettsville and Schulenburg that shut the roadway down for several hours at lunchtime on Oct. 26 and took the collective efforts of multiple first responder agencies to transport 15 injured to area hospitals. Although official accident reports were not yet available, it appeared that a van, traveling northbound, towing a small trailer and carrying several adults and small children, overturned on the eastbound side of the roadway, and the two other vehicles involved, both heading south, veered off the roadway to the west.

• A motorist provided an unwanted drive-thru at Moore Ganske Murr PLLC’s law office in a 100-year-old building when a white SUV smashed into the structure on Oct 29. No one was hurt inside the building and the driver and passenger, a woman and her daughter, received minor injuries when the SUV rammed through a wall at the MGM building in the 500 block of Court St The crash happened about 7 p.m. as two employees remained at work. The employees sprang into action when they realized what occurred. Neither were injured. The driver was making a turn too quickly onto San Marcos St, lost control, hit the accelerator instead of the brake and crashed into the structure. No arrests were made and no charges will be filed. Moore Ganske Murr PLLC bought the historic building in November 2018 and spent several months renovating it They gave it a complete makeover inside and changed parts of the exterior. The partners opened their practice in February 2019 and moved into the building in July of last year. A city inspector checked out the building to ensure it was safe for occupancy and the firm is safe to be inside the structure.

• A person was injured in a wreck on Bastrop Highway (U.S. 183 South) in Del Valle early Wednesday, Austin-Travis County EMS medics said. Medics responded at 6:37 a.m. to reports of a single-vehicle crash in the southbound lanes of the 900 block of Bastrop Highway, near Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The person was possibly thrown from the crash into a creek, medics said. The person was taken to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center with critical, life-threatening injuries.
