Arts for Rural Texas’ Summer Showcase A Great Way to Enjoy a Safe Outing Locally
In June, Arts for Rural Texas opened a Summer Showcase of artwork by artists from around the region. The current exhibit features paintings, sculptures, pottery and fiber art and showcases the inspiring, unique artwork made by south central Texas residents. The exhibit is on display in the Ross Gallery at Arts for Rural Texas located at 114 North Live Oak in Fayetteville.
ARTS’ Executive Director, Karen Vernon, says, “What better time is there to enjoy this town and this exhibit? The sun is shining; the breezes are blowing; and here we offer a wonderful experience in a noncrowded environment. People can relax and enjoy the show in a cool, friendly space. The COVID-19 quarantine seems to have nurtured all the creative thinkers. It has driven us into our homes where we have sought new interests or returned to old interests in pleasant pursuits. It is interesting to see the screens being turned off as people fill their time baking, sewing, painting, doing woodworking, gardening and sharing the creations. Men, women and children are working in their homes and their gardens, taking time for themselves. There is a great need for these activities. They relax and heal us. Life can be hard. We all need to take time to laugh and share a bit of ourselves.”
ARTS is known for its strong presence and contribution to youth education and experiences. But it expands on its mission to improve communities by offering a number of art education and arts experiences to adults as well. In the ARTS Summer Showcase, people will find artwork created by doctors, lawyers, teachers, oil industry leaders, homemakers, students, and professional artists. At ARTS they stand side by side celebrating the joy of creation. Here one can discover a world of one-of-a-kind expressions of unique vision and voices.
ARTS’ summer hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The ARTS Summer Showcase is on exhibit through the month of July.
