Apartment Complex Approved
La Grange City Council unanimously approved a preliminary plat for the La Grange Springs apartment complex at a meeting Monday night, Nov. 9.
The apartments will be located on approximately eight acres located at the northeast intersection of US 77 and FM 2145. Plans call for four separate two-story buildings that will house a total of 72 apartment units. Developers also plan to construct a clubhouse and other outdoor amenities.
Back in January of this year, development consultant Robbie Meyer told the City Council that the development would be aimed at providing affordable rental housing. Meyer said the project is being funded through a tax credit program whereby the developers receive credits for federal income tax liability. In exchange, the developers agree to set rents at affordable rates for tenants earning up to 60 percent of the area median family income.
A representative from the builder told the Council Monday that construction should begin in the first part of January.
