Ace Hardware Store Could Be Coming to Schulenburg

A development firm named Swiss Alp Investments LLC submitted preliminary construction plans to the City of Schulenburg for an Ace Hardware Store.

According to the plans, the store would be built on 2.2 acres of property along Heinrich Street, located east of the former Taco Rodeo Restaurant and behind the Best Western Hotel. Deed records show Swiss Alp Investments bought the property last November from William Jones.

The address for Swiss Alp Investments listed on the plans belongs to a law firm in Brookshire, Vahalik and Vahalik, P.C. A person answering the phone at the law office cited attorney-client confidentiality and said she could not answer any questions.

The planning documents submitted to City Hall call for a 20,000 sq. ft. store, a 3,000 sq. ft. space for lumber and a 9,600 sq. ft. space described as “Future Retail.” Plans also call for approximately 50 parking spaces, including handicap spots near the storefronts.

Schulenburg City Administrator Tami Walker said she did not know anything about the store or the developers, other than the information listed in the plans.
