$20 Bills Go Flying After Brinks Truck Mishap

A Brinks security guard had a bad day at work last week. A mishap while unloading his truck sent $20 bills blowing across the La Grange Walmart parking lot on Wednesday, Dec. 30.

La Grange Police Officer David Mohr and several citizens assisted the Brinks guards in collecting most of the money.

La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath said the incident happened around 5:20 p.m. The Brinks truck was at Walmart to exchange some currency. Gilbreath said one of the Brinks employees was removing a dolly from the back of the truck when he inadvertently slit open a bag of $20 bills. When he went to unload the bag, the bag tore open. Gilbreath said a brisk wind was blowing that afternoon, which sent money flying through the air.

“Officer Mohr had just driven up to Walmart when it happened,” Gilbreath said. “He and some citizens helped the Brinks employees gather up most of the money.”

However, Gilbreath said they were not able to find all of it. Gilbreath said the Brinks employee responsible for the accident was fairly new to the job.
