This most recent fatality was of an 80-plus-year-old female from Pct. 1 that occurred earlier this month, Moreau said.

After consultation with family and caregivers, COVID had been suspected in this particular cause, and recently state health officials confirmed that suspicion. Moreau said there is another related case under inves tigation that could add to the official county death toll.

As of Sunday night there were 11 confirmed current active COVID cases in Fayette County with another 15 probable cases.
