AMEN Serves 1,112 in Sept. Format Changing in Nov.

The pantry will continue for the month of October as a drive-thru format on Mondays from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, however beginning with the month of November the pantry will begin serving clients inside the food distribution area of the warehouse.

The format will be five clients in the building at a time with a dedicated volunteer shopper to assist with the shopping. The client must be wearing a mask and have no indication of COVID symptoms. The change is needed due to the volume of work required as a drive-thru and with inclement weather conditions forthcoming the pantry needs to be moved indoors. Unfortunately at this time, the customer seating area in the front of the building will remain closed until further notice. The good news is we can begin using the pantry more to the format it was designed. The hours will remain the same.

The pantry served 1,112 individuals for the month of September. The donations and the monetary donations given by the community have allowed the pantry to purchase products not available from the food bank. Thanks to the Rotary Club for providing two to three individuals every Monday to assist with distribution.

The volunteer count was 99 with 171 hours provided to the pantry. The mobile pantry in Waldeck served 245 families with 20 volunteers. The demand was so high that not all in line received food. There were seven new clients.

As seen by the numbers for the pantry and the mobile pantry the demand is large for food assistance in the community.

A reminder food donation is needed and can be dropped off on Mondays in the morning hours from 9 a.m. until noon. If you require a special time call (979) 968-3943 and leave a message. Monetary donations can be mailed to P. O. Box 571, La Grange, TX 78945.

AMEN appreciates the community and the volunteers who provide the resources and labor to provide this service to our community.
