Interesting Letters

To the editor:

I certainly enjoyed reading the letter by Norma Bowman. It was true to form and honest.

Bob Heath’s letter was a wonderful and straight forward conversation about birthright citizenship.

There were also some interesting letters about local events. Although, I get so frustrated when I read an article on matters that only present one side of the issue. Because unfortunately, that person is just regurgitating what they have heard from their cable news pontificator.

And then next week someone will reply who says how stupid that article was. And then the next week that person will reply and say, “No I’m not stupid, you are stupid.” And then it goes on.

I also find it interesting that some of our regular correspondents have not been in the county very long, and find that it is their responsibility to educate us locals about the right way to think, and even sometimes how to vote.

I have also been reading in The Fayette County Record about the conflict between the county and the city concerning parking around the courthouse. I assure you that if I was still in office, I would ask the District Attorney to file a possible property encroachment on the city. After all, it is called the Fayette County Courthouse for a reason. I don’t think La Grange realizes all the many positive aspects of the courthouse and how it brings tourism. I am sure that Schulenburg and Flatonia would love to have the courthouse in their city.

I don’t live in La Grange but it sure does seem that the city is taking a lot of properties off the tax role and spending a lot of money. New buildings, as well as old buildings, will need to be maintained. That money will have to come from somewhere.

Well, I hope I didn’t upset anybody. And if I did, you will get over it. After all, I am not on the ballot this time.
