Father Winkler Moving from Flatonia/Cistern to Hostyn/Plum Parishes
Bishop Brendan Cahill has announced two appointments that will be effective June 1, 2024. Rev. Edward “Eddie” Winkler will become pastor of Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in Hostyn and Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Plum. Also, Rev. Samuel Kwabena Owusu will become the parochial administrator of Sacred Heart Church in Flatonia and Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church in Cistern. Announcements were made at those parishes this weekend. “As Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish in Hostyn is in the preparatory stages to begin construction of a new church, it is necessary to address these particular assignments at present due to the special nature of this transitional time and its accompanying responsibilities,” Cahill stated. Father Felix Twumasi, who had been serving as the priest at Hostyn and Plum for the past three years, has been on loan to the Victoria Diocese from his diocese in Ghana, but has been called back into service by his bishop in Ghana and will leave Hostyn and Plum June 1.
