Flatonia, La Grange Rotary Clubs Partner With Rise Against Hunger
The Rotary Clubs of Flatonia and La Grange would like to invite their communities to become engaged and be a part of a Rise Against Hunger Experience on Saturday, Jan. 27, to be held at the Flatonia Civic Center, 208 E. North Main Street, Flatonia, arriving at 9:45 a.m. This Rise Against Hunger Experience provides a fun, educational way for Flatonia and La Grange to literally lend a hand to people facing hunger across the globe.
As many as 783 million people across the world don’t receive enough nutrition to lead an active, healthy life, or provide for themselves and their families. Rise Against Hunger targets remote, lastmile communities within hunger pockets designated “serious” or higher on the Global Hunger Index, which are the hardest places to reach and are often difficult to access, lack communication,andhavepoor infrastructure. The “It Starts With a Meal”movement, created by Rise Against Hunger, shares that the journey toward self-reliance and bright futures begins with a single nutritious meal. They may look like simple bags of rice and soy, but Rise Against Hunger meals represent the hopes and dreams of people worldwide. This nutritional meal contains 20 vitamins and minerals and provides nutritious meals to countries that include India, Philippines, Honduras, many countries in Africa, and much more. Currently there are 23 countries engaged in packing meals for Rise Against Hunger. In 2022 Rise Against Hunger packaged a combined 44.5 million meals at events, with 4.4 million lives being impacted world wide.
The Rotary Clubs of Flatonia and La Grange have a goal of packing 10,000 meals, so please consider joining on Jan. 27 it may be the year you help to end hunger.
