DSA Wants to Rewrite The Constitution
To the editor:
Have you seen the platform of the Democratic Socialists of America?
It has been reported “socialists are sweeping the nation”, and the membership of the DSA “has been exploding” and “the organization is now merging with the Democratic Party,” not just in New York but elsewhere. The DSA 2025-2026 platform claims “Relying on Democrats to defeat Republicans isn’t working. The center-right Democratic Party is controlled by its elite donor class, and they cannot act as an effective political counter to the nationalist far right.”
The stated mission of the DSA is “to unite workers into a powerful political movement to win the battle for democracy and change the world.” ( https://platform.dsausa.org/ wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ DSA_WDM2025Program_ v2.pdf) The platform document calls for “drafting a new constitution and creating a “democratic socialist republic” to presumably rule over the rubble of the old constitutional republic.”
Columnist Jarrett Stepman, for the Daily Signal reports, “With socialists making so many gains, it will increasingly be up to Democrats to answer for these ideas, to explain why they’ve hitched their wagons to big-tent allies who demand that America’s 250th anniversary is its last under the Constitution.”
Can they? Will they? What does your party affiliation stand for? What are your party affiliations legislative priorities? Check out the political party platforms. They can inform you what the party is thinking and its objectives. Decide for yourself who will represent you in our representative republic.
Humans make mistakes and governments make mistakes. The challenge is will enough people act to correct their mistakes? We are going through that process now.
The Declaration of Independence was not a mistake. The U.S. Constitution is not a mistake—though many have misinterpreted it. Socialism is a mistake.
The Constitution remains the foundation of American rule of law. It is worth defending to preserve another 250 years of freedom. Happy Birthday American and may you have many more.
