Freshman Brooke Ulrich has grabbed the starting pitcher’s role for the La Grange softball team.

And even though she’s young, she’s played like a veteran and is a big reason the Lady Leps have won 10 of their last 12 games.

She pitched a complete game win over Smithville last week. Tuesday she threw another complete game against the Lady Tigers and didn’t allow any earned runs.

“It’s tough for a freshman to come in but she’s done a great job,” said La Grange softball coach Robert Young. “She’s taken some advice and really done well for us. We’re looking for great things from her not only this year but well into the future.”

We’re proud to honor Ulrich as this week’s Fayette County Athlete of the Week.
