Middle School
Thursday night the La Grange middle school played against the Caldwell Hornets at Leopard Stadium. The first game of the night was a combined 7th and 8th grade Gold team that kicked off at 4:30. La Grange got the win 14-12. Offensive standouts were 7th grade quarterback Louis Amaya, 8th grade running back Charles Gunter, and 8th grade receiver Brayden Johnson. Gunter scored both offensive touchdowns for the Leopards. The first touchdown came in the first quarter with a 34 yard run. Then, again in the 4th quarter Gunter found the end zone from 5 yards out. Defensive standouts were 8th grade linebacker Gabriel Friemel and 7th grade lineman Quayshon Scott.
The 7th grade Purple Team also won their game against Caldwell with a score of 36-8. Offensive standouts were Mason Mckenzie, Anthony Villalobos, and quarterback Shepherd Gunn. Coach Gillum noted that the high scoring offense was powered by the tough blocking of his linemen all game. Quarterback Shepherd Gunn threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another score. Defensive standouts from the game were Caden Karonika, Brayden Williams, Atticus Hunt, and Quincy Scott.
Final game of the evening was the 8th grade Purple Team who lost a close game against the Hornets by a score of 21-22. Caldwell trailed the entire game, but ended up scoring the go ahead touchdown with less than two minutes remaining in the game. After Caldwell punched in their 2 point conversion, La Grange had one last offensive drive which ended in an interception on the goaline. Offensive standouts named for the game were running backs Tytan Sanders and Tanner Finch and receiver Giovanni Luna. Defensive players noted by Coach Collier were Cole Fritz, Giovanni Luna, and Dorian Harrington.
