State Bound! Lions & Limbaugh Win Regional Cross Country Titles
Fayetteville’s Emma Jurecka and Flatonia’s Oscar Guerrero Also Advance; La Grange Season Concludes in Huntsville
Class 1A
In the Region W-1A cross country meet in Corpus Christi Monday, the Fayetteville boys cross country team won the regional title, edging Knippa by one point.
The Fayetteville boys now advance to the state meet. Their state race will be Monday Nov. 23 in Round Rock.
The Lions were led by Cole Fenhaus who finished the 5,000 meter run in a time of 18:50.78, good for second place. Keagan Supak was 5th, Cash Smith was 10th, Jake Kubala was 33rd, Logan Fritsch was 43rd, Jose Aparicio was 67th and Austin Townsley was 76th .
On the girls side, Fayetteville’s Emma Jurecka was 7th in the two mile race to also advance to state. Fayetteville’s Jeslyn Moralez was 39th.
Class 2A
Schulenburg’s Taylor Limbaugh raced to the Region IV-2A cross country title in Corpus Christi Tuesday, winning the two-mile race with a time of 12:29.91, which was 25 seconds ahead of the second place runner.
Limbaugh will now advance to the state meet on Tuesday, Nov. 24, in Round Rock.
128 runners competed in the 2A girls division.
Flatonia’s Alexa Torres was 38th.
On the boys side, Flatonia was 8th in the team standings and Schulenburg was 9th.
Flatonia’s Oscar Guerrero was 17th and advances to the state meet. Teammate Duke Sodek was 19th, Paden Reddock was 56th, Aiden Miksch was 70th and Mason Greenwood 83rd.
The Schulenburg boys team was led by David Velasquez, who was 35th and teammate Lazaro Lam was right behind in 36th place. Nathan Olsovsky was 55th, Alex Jimenez was 69th, Oz Oldham was 71st, Bryce Wilson 72nd, and Jackson Faith 92nd.
Class 4A
The La Grange boys cross country team placed 14th at the Region III-4A meet in Huntsville Monday.
There were 124 runners competing. The Leps were led by freshman Gage Mihatsch, who completed the three-mile race in 18:20.90, good enough for 46th place. Josh Amick was 54th, Angel Hernandez was 91st, Brody Abbey was 94th, Jerald Brothers was 106th, Daniel Perales was 107th and Cody Krupala was 112th.
On the girls side, La Grange was 13th as a team. Ellee Sodolak was the top runner for the Lady Leps, running the twomile race in a time of 14:04, good enough for 28th place in the field of 129 runners.
La Grange’s Alyssa DelaRosa was 78th, Julia Aymond was 81st, Abby DelaRosa was 83rd, Danyelle McIntyre was 87th, Eleanor Rohan was 99th and Brisa Angel was 106th.
