Fayetteville Sophomore Medals at State Track, Pitches Complete Game in Playoffs
Fayetteville’s Jack Schley has had a pretty good last few days.
Friday Schley pitched a complete game to help the Lions sweep their playoff series against High Island.
The next day, the Fayetteville sophomore went to the state track meet and placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 43-feet, 9-inches, second only to Slidell’s Khari Woodson, who flied 45-9 on his sixth and final jump.
Also at state in the long jump, Schley was 6th with a leap of 20-4.5.
Fayetteville had a lot of other qualifiers at the state track meet. Here’s how they did:
• The Fayetteville 4x400 relay team of Reid Gross, Mason Fenhaus, Ottis Dominey and Keagan Supak placed 8th with a time of 3:36.45.
• Fayetteville’s Cole Fenhaus was 9th in the 3200 meter with a time of 10:34.98.
• Lawson Fritsch of Fayetteville was 9th in the pole vault, clearing 12 feet.
• Olivia Dominey, a Fayetteville freshman, was seventh in the 400 in a time of 1:01.56.
• Fayetteville freshman Cambree Denham was seventh in the high jump, clearing 4-10 and fifth in the pole vault, clearing nine feet.
Also in 1A track at state: In the 100 meters, Round Top-Carmine’s Egypt Woods was eighth in a time of 13.15 and 5th in the long jump, leaping 15-11.5

Baseball Team
The Fayetteville baseball team had no trouble sweeping High Island in both games of their 1A first round baseball playoff series Friday. The Lions won 16-3 and 17-4.
In the opener Easton Jaeger led the Lions with three hits, two RBIs and four runs. Kole Schmitt had two hits and two RBIs. Jack Schley and Keagan Supak each scored two runs.
Schley pitched a complete game three-hitter with eight strikeouts.
In the second game of the series, Chance Konvicka had three hits, including two doubles to lead the Lions attack.
Jaeger had two triples, and Schley, Supak and Jake Kubala also had multi-hit games.
Supak, Jaeger and Schmitt combined on the pitching effort for the Lions, who improved to 12-4.
Fayetteville now advances to the regional quarterfinals where they will face Medina Friday at 7 p.m. in Wimberley in a game-game playoff.
